University of Beira Interior (UBI)
UBI is located in Covilhã, which is located on the southern slope of Serra da Estrela, the highest mountain in mainland Portugal.
As it is a city in the interior of the country, the cost of living in Covilhã is lower than in large cities, which is reflected in food and housing prices, for example.
UBI is equipped with the latest technologies and has infrastructure to support teaching and research in all scientific areas of its training offer.
When it comes to culture, you can find at UBI a university theater group (TeatrUBI), a Choir and six academic musical groups. In relation to sport, the University has sports halls and other venues at the disposal of its students.

Transport – How to get here?
Airplane: the main airports in mainland Portugal are in Lisbon and Porto, both about 250km from Covilhã. The connection of these cities to Covilhã can be made by car, train or bus. But fee free to contact us for transport assistance.
By car: the route takes around 2h30m, it can be done entirely on the highway (A1-exit at Torres Novas to the A23).
Train: there are daily connections from Lisbon to Covilhã via CP - Comboios de Portugal.
Bus: there are daily connections from Lisbon and Porto to Covilhã via Rede Expressos. The company offers discounts for students, young people up to 30 years old and seniors.
